New funding expands FITech Network University's offering with courses related to data skills
FITech Network University, coordinated by Aalto University, has been granted new funding to address the skills needs related to data competence.
FITech Network University, coordinated by Aalto University, has been granted new funding from the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE) to address the skill needs related to data competence.
The FITech Data project involves Aalto University, Tampere University, University of Oulu, University of Turku, and Ã…bo Akademi University. The project starts in summer 2026 and ends in August 2027.
The project aims to meet the emerging skill needs of the technology sector
The courses offered within the FITech Data project meet the learners' data-related skill needs. The project offers learners the opportunity to acquire basic skills in data use, programming- and AI-based data utilisation, as well as new insights for professionals in digital business and user experience. There are also courses for those working in technology that explore the use of geospatial information and satellite data.
The courses are especially aimed at individuals working in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and who wish to develop their skills in data utilisation. Some courses have prerequisites, for example, in terms of technical skills. Beginner courses are also suitable for those without prior technical background.
Courses on five topical themes
A total of 12 university courses will be provided within the FITech Data project. The courses are free of charge for the participants, and they are available for all Finns and people permanently living in Finland. A Finnish personal identity code and e-identification is needed to apply.
The courses relate to the following themes:

Introduction to data skills

Digital business and user experience

Satellite positioning and space technologies

Change management and project management
Courses will be offered during the 2026-2027 academic year. Nearly all autumn courses have been published on FITech's website, and applications are open. First courses will start already in August 2026.

The training has been funded by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE). The Service Centre promotes the competence development of working-age people and the availability of skilled labour. The operations of the Service Centre are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
