During the 2025–26 academic year, students at the School of Business have carried out several projects related to the use of artificial intelligence for companies operating in different sectors. In these customised student business projects, data analytics models and automated processes have been developed and generative AI solutions tested, which support decision-making and streamline companies’ processes. The projects have provided students with practical learning and companies with concrete pilots and recommendations for further development.

‘The academic year now ending has been very busy also in terms of customised student business projects. It has been fantastic how positive the feedback from both clients and students has been on the projects, several of which have had an AI theme this year,’ says Tommi Vihervaara, the specialist coordinating the projects from the School of Business External Relations unit.

Companies have been extremely satisfied with AI projects

Representatives of partner companies have without exception given excellent feedback on the work done by the student groups. The projects have provided companies with concrete tools and a valuable external perspective on the strategic use of artificial intelligence. 

• Hilti Finland: ‘The student team did an excellent job. It would have taken us two years to achieve what the students accomplished in four months. With the help of artificial intelligence, we have the opportunity to serve our customers faster and with higher quality. We now have a much clearer understanding of how AI works and how it can be applied in our own work,’ say Hilti Finland’s Markus Suominen and Juho Keitaanniemi.
• PwC Finland: ‘We are extremely impressed by the students’ work and the insights they produced into how artificial intelligence is utilised in modern financial systems and what kinds of capabilities may emerge in the future,’ say PwC Finland’s representatives Marko Viitanen and Totti Tyynilä.
• KPMG: ‘Combining AI technologies and public data in a demanding professional context turned out to be a very complex problem, but the students did an excellent job by providing solutions and valuable new ideas. This has definitely been a useful project for us,’ says KPMG’s Juha Sääskilahti.
• Onninen: ‘The students’ perspective brought fresh ideas for developing our sales processes with the help of artificial intelligence. The project met our expectations and gave us a solid basis to continue building our AI strategy. Through the project results, we were better able to understand what options we have for AI development work and how projects can be framed. Development work is under way for some of the project ideas, while others have been added to our list of ideas,’ says Hanna Jussila from Onninen.
