Support for students impacted by the situation in the Middle East

The university supports and helps students in dealing with the crisis

The crisis in the Middle East is deeply distressing particularly for members of our community with connections to the area. They now need understanding and support from the university and the whole community. The crisis may have risen, and may continue to rise, many kinds of conflicting thoughts and emotions.

Crisis support is available, when needed, from the following providers 

  • Should you face any problems or questions arising from the situation during your studies, please write to support@aalto.fi. A multi-professional team will read and treat all messages from students and staff on a confidential basis.
  • Aalto chaplains provide services for everyone in the Aalto community. You can have a confidential conversation with a chaplain regardless of your worldview or religion. You can turn to them to talk about a personal issue in your own life or about a matter relating to the community.
  • The Crisis Helpline of MIELI Mental Health Finland:

  • Crisis and social services for Western Uusimaa:
  • Crisis emergency services for Helsinki:
  • provides supportive conversations and crisis support to people under age 30. 

Support for studying and study-wellbeing 

If now or later, you feel a need to receive support for your studies or your study wellbeing due to the crises, you can turn to the following services 

  • You may contact a member of the Learning Services staff for your own school.
  • The Starting Point of Wellbeing offers short-term advice and counselling without an appointment, and this can include information on where to find support on a more long-term basis.
  • You can contact an Aalto study psychologist.
  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree students may also contact ). &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Opin.fi is a collaborative service by Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences, offering a diverse selection of open courses available to everyone. The new platform launched this April, with marketing directed at learners set to begin in May. This spring, it includes participation from 29 Finnish higher education institutions, including Aalto University.
