Putting our values into action – See Code of Conduct updates

Code of Conduct, our common ’fair play rules’ touch all of us
Kaksi henkilöä kampuksella.

The Code of Conduct has now been updated to correspond our reformulated values and the changes that have reshaped our operating environment. Get to know the Code of Conduct – the rules apply to every one of us and lay a common groundwork for our working culture. The previous edition was composed in 2017.

Aalto University strives to be a place where everyone can thrive while studying and working together. This is the foundation of everything we do. Commitment to the Code of Conduct creates a platform for the success and wellbeing of our community. We want to be proud, not only of our achievements, but also the way we accomplish them.

Aalto University’s Code of Conduct contains the ’fair play rules’ of our university community. The Code of Conduct helps us make ethically sound choices and gives practical examples of actions that are in line with our values.  Responsibility, courage and collaboration – and our way of working guide everything we do.

Code of Conduct consists of five pillars

The five pillars of the Code consist of: Our responsibility for people, Our responsibility for sustainability, Our responsibility to act ethically, Our responsibility for assets and Our responsibility for information and data. When you are familiar with the pillars, it’s easy to act according to the principles.

The Code of Conduct applies to all of us: from students to employees and board members as well as people who work for Aalto-owned companies and management. Every one of our actions and words carries a meaning. What we do and how we do it is just as important as what we say.

In a changing world, being responsible in everything we do becomes all the more important. The updates elaborate in more detail principles concerning sustainable development, the use of property and assets, and data protection and information security.

The Code of Conduct, links to additional information and tips on working ethically can be found on the Code of Conduct website. The material is also compiled in PDF format. The links are available below. After summer, training materials on the Code of Conduct will also be available on Workday.
