What does a typical scientist look like to you?

Why does diversity in science matter and how can we increase it?

This award-winning documentary aims to challenge our existing views and culture in the sciences.

is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

The documentary has already been shown at many Universities and other public institutions worldwide and is now available at Aalto for virtual watching starting from 11.12. and 16.12.

The screening is organized by the Diversity Team at the Department of Applied Physics.
