The Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE) has granted FITech Network University a funding of 277 500 euros to address the competency needs in health technology.

The courses included in the FITech Health Technology project will be organised by Aalto University, Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Oulu, and University or Turku. The project starts in autumn 2025 and ends on December 31st, 2026.

The project addresses competency needs in health technology and combines offerings from various fields

The courses offered within the project aim to meet current and anticipated needs in health technology expertise, innovation, commercialisation, work readiness, and mathematical skills. The project brings together offerings from fields such as medical engineering, health technology, nursing science, information technology, industrial engineering and management, electrical engineering and automation, and mathematics.

The courses are aimed at higher education graduates from the field of technology who are interested in deepening their expertise, as well as other professionals working at the intersection of technologies who wish to broaden their knowledge and improve their opportunities to work in health technology. The courses will prepare the learners to meet the future challenges and opportunities of the health sector. 

Diverse selection of courses from health technology basics to business skills

The FITech Health Technology project offers 16 courses from various universities. There will also be a course to support studies in the field of technology and help update mathematical skills.

The health technology courses focus on the following themes:

• Basic knowledge and applications in health technology
• Artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital systems
• Business skills and innovations

As part of the project, career guidance is also provided with the aim of helping adult learners utilise their accumulated skills more effectively in the working life and identify career paths in the field. Career guidance will be organised during 2026, and further information about its implementation and schedule will be provided later on FITech's channels.

Aalto University will provide two health technology-related courses during the project

Aalto University will provide two courses during the project: Principles of health technology assessment and regulatory affairs and Smart wearables.

More information about courses organised by Aalto University and other FITech universities will be published on FITech's website in November 2025.

What is FITech Network University?

FITech is a network consisting of nine universities offering education in technology in Finland: Aalto University, LUT University, Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, University of Oulu, University of Turku, University of Vaasa, and Åbo Akademi University. Founding members are also Technology Industries of Finland (Teknologiateollisuus) and the Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland (TEK). FITech Network University is coordinated by Aalto University.

The founding mission of FITech is to increase the co-operation of Finnish universities of technology. The goal is to guide experts to growth sectors in Finland and respond to competence needs arising in the field of technology. The projects of FITech network are funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Service Center for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE), and Northern Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021-2027 programme’s ESF+ funding).
