Increased number of applicants to Bachelor’s Programmes at Aalto University

The number of first priority applicants increased 14% in the field of Business and Economics and the field of Technology attracted over 12% more first priority applicants.

The application deadlinein the joint application to higher education was last Wednesday 28 March and a total of 10 700 applicants applied ɫɫÀ² University. Last year there were 9983 applicants which means that the number of applicants increased by 7%. The biggest increase in the number of applicants was in the field of Business and Economics where the number of first priority applicants went up by 14% compared to last year. 67% of the applicants had Aalto University as their first priority.

Altogether 4871 applicants applied to the study option in the field of Business and Economics and for the English-speaking International Business programme in Mikkeli the number of applicants was 773. The number of first priority applicants for the Finnish-speaking Bachelor’s programme was 2784, this number therefore increased by 22% compared to last year. The number of first priority applicants increased by 4% for the English-speaking International Business programme in Mikkeli.

In the field of Science and Technology, there were 4327 applicants. The number of applicant includes applicant who apply based on Open University studies and MAOL-competitions, and including the number of applicants who applied for the English-speaking Bachelor´s Programme in Science and Technology. In the field of Technology, the number of first priority applicants increased most for the study option in Bioinformation technology where there were ca. 15% more first priority applicants compared to last year. The number of first priority applicants increased 12% in the field of Technology.

In the field of Art and Design, the number of first priority applicants increased most for the study option in Documentary film, there were 33% more first priority applicants compared to last year. There were altogether 1884 applicants in the Field of Arts and Design, and therefore the amount of applicants decreased by 7%.

All the number are based on the reports taken from Studyinfo right after the application period finished so the number may vary a bit later on when the reports are updated and the handling of applications start.

The results of the joint application to higher education will be published on 28 June 2018 at the latest.
