Application period for Bachelors’ programmes in English started 9 January

A new Bachelor’s programme in Science and Technology starts next autumn.

The application period for Aalto University’s Bachelor’s Programmes in English starts in 9 January 2018. The university offers English-language programmes in international business and in science and technology.

Two study options in science and technology

Aalto University will launch a new Aalto Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology in English in the autumn of 2018. The programme has two study options: Data Science at the School of Science, and Digital Systems and Design at the School of Electrical Engineering. The basic studies in the programme have a strong focus on mathematical and computational methods and robust information technology skills. Data Science is a multidisciplinary field focusing on the study of scientific methods used to extract knowledge from data and build models that cope with complex problems. Digital Systems and Design educates specialists in various fields of digital systems.

In the first year, 25 new students will be admitted per study option. Students are selected to complete the degrees Bachelor and Master of Science in Technology.

Admissions to the Aalto Bachelor's Programme in Science and Technology are organized through the national joint application to higher education. There are two admission groups for the programme:

  • In Admission Group I admission is based on the grades obtained in the Finnish matriculation examination, IB-, EB- or RP-degrees.
  • In Admission Group II admission is based on SAT test results. 

International Business Program in Mikkeli

In 2018, a total of 82 degree students in admission groups I-III will be admitted to the Bachelor’s Program in International Business (also called the BScBA Program) at the School of Business Mikkeli Campus. Students accepted to the program will get a study right also to the Master of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration at Aalto University.

The BScBA Program at Aalto University Mikkeli Campus offers excellent education from the leading business school in Finland. The program gives an up-to-date education that combines extensive theoretical studies with real business life experience.

Applications for the Bachelor’s Program in International Business are to be submitted through the joint online application system for Finnish higher education institutions on (in Finnish opintopolku.fi).

 The admission to the BScBA Program is based on

  • points awarded for grades obtained while earning one of the following four high school diplomas: the Finnish Matriculation Examination Certificate, International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), European Baccalaureate Diploma (EB) or Finnish Reifeprüfung Diploma (RP) (admission group I,
  • the SAT Test scores (admission groups II & III),
  • studies completed in the Aalto University Open University or
  • transfer applications.

The application period for bachelors’ programmes in Finnish and Swedish is in March.
