Description

Studying in the Master’s Programme in Business Analytics offers students a unique combination of skills in business and technology that are essential for data-based decision-making and problem-solving. These skills are in high demand for innovative future leaders able to steer companies and other organizations through the era of digitalization, artificial intelligence and sustainability challenges. The programme provides students with a solid understanding of core business analytics tools such as machine learning, statistics, mathematical optimization and decision analysis as well as expertise on how these tools can be used to generate added value and to address sustainability challenges across different business domains. The studies also include analytics courses from different application areas, such as accounting, marketing, supply chain management and information systems. Students can choose a minor to further deepen their knowledge of business analytics tools or to strengthen their understanding of a specific application area.  

Upon graduating from the Business Analytics Programme, graduates will have:

• Knowledge of business analytics. Graduates possess in-depth knowledge on analytics theory, models, methods, and tools, and how analytics and data produce added value in different application domains.
• Understanding of sustainability and ethical aspects. Graduates understand how sustainability aspects can be incorporated into analytics models and tools and are aware of ethical issues related to the use analytics.
• Communication, leadership, and team working skills. Graduates have the necessary skills to successfully carry out analytics development and deployment in diverse organizations.
• Problem-solving, analytical thinking and decision-making skills. Graduates are critical thinkers who can develop and deploy analytics models and tools to support data-driven problem solving and decision-making.

Tuition fees and scholarships

The tuition fee for this programme is 15 000 euros per academic year. Citizens of European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland do not pay tuition fees. Citizens of other countries must pay tuition fees.

Aalto University offers a small number of scholarships in the form of tuition fee waivers to fee-paying students. Scholarships can be awarded to the highest-achieving applicants based on the programme's evaluation criteria. Applicants are ranked according to the criteria outlined on the programme's webpage.

Structure of studies

Overall, the Business Analytics Programme comprises a total of 120 ECTS credits. The two-year programme consists of:

• Programme studies (87 ECTS) including core analytics studies (36 ECTS), application-focused analytics studies in accounting analytics, marketing analytics, supply chain analytics or information systems (18 ECTS), and the master’s thesis and seminar (33 ECTS) Business Analytics studies including analytics, programming, and data management (60 ECTS), includes Master's Thesis (30 ECTS)
• Electives (30 ECTS) which can includeexchange studies, a minor, an internship or additional core analytics or application-focused courses
