Nordic Master Programme in Polymer Technology

Starting your studies

Programme specific orientation for Nordic Master’s Programme in Polymer Technology:
Tue 29 August 2023 at 12:00-14:00 in room L1 in Forest building (Vuorimiehentie 1).

Orientation at CHEM

Studies for the academic year 2025–2026 begin on the orientation week. Participation in the orientation week is very important for the smooth start of the studies. During the week, you will meet your fellow students and teachers for the first time, socialize at events organized by guilds, receive support for course selections and study systems, as well as have the opportunity to handle official matters related to daily life.

The programme-specific orientation is very important to attend also for students who continue their studies after a bachelor's degree at Aalto. Please attend the programme-specific orientation if you graduate from Aalto Bachelor´s programme during the calendar year 2025.

Orientation week 2025

Orientation week takes place on 25 - 29 August. All new Master´s students are expected to participate! This applies also to the students, who have already graduated or will graduate as a Bachelor from Aalto during the calendar year 2025. We do not record the events and it is, unfortunately, not possible to participate online.

Please note that some changes may occur. Your student tutor will organise some other events during the week. More information on these events from your tutor.

Webinar: Planning your studies in Sisu

Aalto CHEM will organize Zoom webinars to help you to plan your studies. The content in these two webinars is the same, so you only need to attend the one which fits better to your schedule.

  • , Wed 20 August at 3.30pm - 5.00pm (UTC +3)
  • , Thu 21 August at 12.00pm - 1.30 pm (UTC +3)

Please create your personal study plan by 21 August 2025.

Tutoring at CHEM

If you are a new student at Aalto, we will share your contact information with a student tutor who will contact you during Summer. Each new student who completed their bachelor's degree outside Aalto is assigned a student tutor who has completed tutor training.

Tutors are senior students who help new students during the orientation week and at the beginning of their studies. Tutoring is carried out in cooperation between the tutors, Aalto University personnel and student organizations. Each major and programme has their own tutors who introduce students to the campus, student organization activities (e.g. Prosessiteekkarit & AYY) and student life in general.

NB! If you have any questions regarding:

  • practicalities after admission (tuition fees and scholarships, residence permits, health and insurance, housing etc.)
  • practicalities after moving to Finland (registering with the authorities, local transportation, student healthcare etc.)
  • other topics related to living and studying in Finland

please contact International Students Peer Advice (ISPA) service. See ISPA contact information and opening hours
