The Unite! alliance is one of the university networks of the European Universities -initiative funded by the European Commission, which are developing and building the European higher education of the future. The aim of the collaboration is to create a European university campus where students, staff and researchers can move seamlessly, both physically and virtually.

In Unite!, Aalto's partner universities are

The network is based on strong multi- and interdiscplinary co-operation with technical universities, but also extends transversally also across other areas of expertise and disciplines such as architecture, design and economics.

For students, Unite! offers new forms of student mobility, joint programs, online courses, summer schools, researcher seminars and collaborative courses. Some of these are taught online and some include international mobilities (in variable lengths). 

() is a Global Alliance of leading business schools, multinational companies and NGOs that together offer the  (MIM) (). Annually ca. 1.300 students enroll in CEMS MIM. CEMS offers a unique opportunity to study international management and apply the learnings to solve real-life business cases. CEMS MIM prepares students to take on various responsible and international expert and leadership positions. 

CEMS MIM includes CEMS courses conducted in active corporate collaboration i.e. in the fields of global leadership and strategy, an extensive business project, an international internship, and seminars familiarising the students with skills required in working life. One of the CEMS terms is spent studying with the international CEMS student cohort at Aalto University School of Business, the other at another CEMS school abroad in the form of a Master's level exchange term.

Aalto University offers students two ways of enrolling in the CEMS MIM programme:

1. The Add-on CEMS MIM opportunity (66 ECTS) available for students already enrolled or with an existing study right to any Aalto University Master’s programme
2. The two-year MSc in Global Management programme with CEMS MIM integrated.

Upon graduation from either one of these options students receive both a Master's degree from Aalto University and the highly valued CEMS Master's in International Management certificate granted by CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education, and become part of the life-long CEMS community currently consisting over 16.500 alumni.

Nordic Master-programmes in English

Nordic Five Tech (N5T) is an exclusive, strategic alliance of the five leading technical universities DTU in Denmark, Aalto in Finland, NTNU in Norway and KTH and Chalmers in Sweden.

The Nordic Five Tech universities have very high academic standards and are amongst the top international technical universities. The universities provide excellent opportunities for students to pursue their specific academic interest. By pooling resources through the Nordic Five Tech collaboration we are able to offer world-class facilities in the respective universities’ areas of excellence.

Joint Nordic Master’s programmes

The Nordic Five Tech alliance offers a number of joint Master’s programmes. All programmes are taught in English and are open to students with a relevant Bachelor's degree.

Through the joint Master’s programmes students have the opportunity to pursue their specific academic interests in areas where the Nordic Five Tech universities have a strong capacity, expertise, and long standing tradition within research and education. Study tracks are predefined in order to utilize the unique strengths of each of the universities. When students graduate, they receive a Master’s degree from the two attended universities.

Nordic Five Tech and PhD-studies

PhD-studies 

A number of joint projects have been launched to support the vision of N5T as an extended campus. One of them is this joint PhD course database. PhD course database has been created to increase mobility for our PhD students within the five Nordic universities and further strengthen the alliance by encouraging more research cooperation.

Joint PhD course database

The Nordic Five Tech alliance collaborates on PhD education to encourage the use of the cumulative research devices of the Nordic Five Tech universities and stimulate mobility for PhD students. The joint PhD course database enables PhD students at each Nordic Five Tech university to access courses at the other universities.

If you are a PhD student at one of the five N5T universities, you do not have to pay for participating in courses registered in this database. Please note that the database also includes nontechnical PhD courses.

 is a network for Nordic and Baltic arts and design universities. The network is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers Nordplus Higher Education – programme. The network has been established in 1990 thus being one of the oldest and most active networks of the Nordplus-programme. The network is enabling student exchange between the partner universities and arranging international intensive courses and summer schools. You can find the CIRRUS-exchange destinations from the ARTS exchange destination database.

CIRRUS is also providing scholarships for short and long exchange periods and internships abroad. Aalto will complement the CIRRUS scholarship if it is less than Aalto’s own exchange scholarship. The scholarship is granted by Aalto University. Students applying for a long exchange period do not have to apply for the CIRRUS grant.  is a European network of top universities of technology. Aalto University has several Cluster Dual Master double degree programmes that include an integrated mobility period abroad.

Aalto students apply for exchange in CLUSTER universities either through the Nordtek or Erasmus programmes.

 is a network for Nordic and Baltic higher education institutions providing art education. It is funded by the Nordplus programme. The purpose of the network is to develop and promote the collaboration between higher education institutions in art education.

EDDA Norden is also providing scholarships for short and long exchange periods and internships abroad. The EDDA exchange destinations can be found from ARTS exchange destinations database. Aalto will complement the EDDA scholarship if it is less than Aalto’s own exchange scholarship. The scholarship is granted by Aalto University. Students applying for a long exchange period do not have to apply for the EDDA grant separately. More information: Long exchange period scholarships out-exchange-arts@aalto.fi. Magalhães is a network of European, Latin American and Caribbean universities in the field of science, technology and engineering created to promote and support graduate student exchanges between the member universities. Aalto University schools of engineering and technology have bilateral student exchange agreements with some of the network's member institutions.

 is a network for Nordic and Baltic architecture schools. Members of the network are higher education institutions from Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

 is the Nordic Council of Ministers' programme in the area of lifelong learning. It forms a network of Nordic and Baltic Universities.  is a network of the Rectors and Deans of the Technical Universities in the five Nordic countries.

Nordplus and Nordtek also offer scholarships. The procedure is the same as in Erasmus+ scholarships: Aalto University compliments the Nordtek/Nordplus scholarship in case it does not amount upto the sum of the Aalto University exchange scholarship. Students do not need to apply separately for the Nordtek/Nordplus scholarship. Selected students will be informed about the scholarship after the exchange application round.

Each member institution represents the highest degree of excellence in the fields of business administration and management, demonstrates leadership in their geographic region and delivers an MBA or a graduate-equivalent degree in management.
