Warm thank you to all those involved in supervising the entrance examination of the School of Business
The entrance examination in the field of business, like the other entrance examinations at Aalto University this summer, was arranged on location. On Tuesday 8 June 2021, nearly 5,000 candidates had registered for the entrance examination in the field of business, from which nearly 2,700 arrived to the examination. Some of those who registered for the exam did not eventually need to participate in it, as the information on those who were admitted based on their high school diploma was not confirmed until the end of May.
Dean Timo Korkeamäki highly values the work of the entrance examination supervisors.
‘I warmly thank all the voluntary supervisors of our community, both faculty, staff and students. Special thanks to Planning Officers Jenni Hirvensalo and Salla Mäkinen from Learning Services for their excellent work, as they had the main responsibility for the entrance examination arrangements.’
130 examination halls and 420 supervisors
The applicants had received a precise meeting place and time in the entrance examination invitation.
‘With this staggering, we ensured that we were able to maintain safe distances of two metres and sanitise our hands safely. Applicants had also been recommended to minimise close contact with others for two weeks before the entrance examination. In the test, the applicants were required to wear face masks unless the applicant had applied for special arrangements for this or other practices when registering for the exam’, explains Pia Lahti, Head of Learning Services at the School of Business.
A total of 130 examination halls were in use. The majority of the halls were located in the buildings of the Otaniemi campus. Additional facilities were also reserved in some buildings located in Tapiola.
420 supervisors took part in the day's implementation. Marianna Bom, Chief Financial Officer at Aalto University, was one of them.
‘It was a great pleasure to be involved in the selection of new students, the most important members of our community! Monitoring the entrance examination was even quite exciting. My thoughts were very much on the side of the students’, says Marianna. She is also an alumna of the School of Business and participated in entrance examinations in 1989, 32 years ago.
The results of the entrance examination will be published in the Opintopolku (Study Path) no later than Friday 9 July 2021.
