Security of Aalto network will be improved

Aalto ITS will install a centralized Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solution in order to improve the security of Aalto IT environment.

With NGFW, Aalto’s network will fulfill  modern security requirements. Devices and data will be better protected against unauthorized use or leaks.

NGFW will also make implementing network solutions for research and teaching activities / solutions easier. Complicated solutions can be implemented in a simpler but still in a secure way.

The initial installation will be done on Monday 5 February. When necessary, network breaks will always be scheduled to happen between 7.00 and 8.00 in mornings. The whole test period will take 4 weeks and during the period there is also a slightly increased chance of unexpected network shortages .
