During the exercise, unmanned ground vehicles, drones and people wearing high-visibility vests or military uniforms may be moving about in the area. The exercise will not restrict movement in the area, except for a separately cordoned-off section of the car park.

Aalto University, Tampere University, the University of Turku, the National Defence University and the City of Helsinki Rescue Department will conduct an evacuation exercise in Otaniemi on Thursday 24 September 2026, 8.00–16.00.

The exercise will specifically test the use of unmanned ground vehicles, drones, and mobile networks to guide an evacuating crowd. It will take place in the area of the Otaniemi sports field and Otakaari. In connection with the exercise, unmanned ground vehicles, drones and a few people wearing high-visibility vests or military uniforms will be moving about in the area.

The exercise will not restrict movement in the area, except for a separately cordoned-off section of the car park. The exercise will finish by 16.00 at the latest.
