Sara Hulkkonen from the Department of Design and Johanna Wartio from the Department of Film have joined the Aalto University Open Research Network as Data Agents for the School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

Data Agents help researchers in their departments with matters related to research data management and take part in the activities of the wider Aalto Open Research Network. They can be contacted directly or through the researchdata@aalto.fi support address.

Data Agents also host webinars in the network's biannual open research training series.

"As a newly appointed Data Agent serving the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, I am interested in developing sustainable data and documentation management in artistic research. While we at ARTS already have good research practices in more traditional ways of collecting and storing data, artistic research is still a rather new territory regarding RDM. As a doctoral researcher in the field of design, I explore glassblowing through practice-led inquiry. I am more than happy to share what I already know about research integrity, specifically data practices and management in creative fields."

"I鈥檓 joining Aalto Data Agents to support fellow researchers in developing clear, sustainable, and discipline-sensitive data practices across the schools. As a doctoral researcher myself, I鈥檓 especially attuned to the qualitative and artistic dimensions of research, where creative processes and multimodal materials invite tailored data approaches. I鈥檒l also contribute to next spring鈥檚 ARTS-focused data-management teaching, offering structured guidance that complements the broader support available."
