Beginning on 1 January 2025, Aalto instituted a €50 fee for processing extension applications, in compliance with Finnish legislation. If you need extended time to complete your studies, please note that Sisu’s service for the applications, which has been down since 31 December 2024, will re-open in March 2025.  

At this time, the processing fee is payable via Paytrail. Instructions on paying the fees are being added to the Student Guide instructions on extending the right to study. Students needing an extension are to complete their applications in Sisu and pay the required processing fee in accordance with the instructions. Please note that the extension form will be processed only after record of the payment has been received.   

Has your study right expired?  

If you need an extension already for spring term 2025 because your right to study has expired, your extension application can be done at this time through a temporary system. Contact the Learning Services of your programme or school for further instructions, contact information for Learning Services.
