Organizing and Leading Experts
How can specialists, like engineers, do their best work in organizations? Expert talent is a powerful resource鈥攂ut without the right organization design and leadership, even the most capable specialists may be impeded from leveraging their skills to have positive impact in organizations. Issues like unclear roles, lack of structure, or resistance to 鈥渟oft skills鈥 like leadership and communication can create friction and inefficiency.
While expertise is essential, it is organizational design and leadership that often determine whether that expertise leads to impact. This session explores how to effectively organize and lead specialist teams and organizations, drawing on insights from startups, consulting, and large-scale engineering organizations.
Speakers
Julia Bodner is an Assistant professor of strategy and innovation at Copenhagen Business School. Her research focuses on corporate strategy and strategic management of employees, such as employee reconfiguration following acquisitions. She obtained her Ph.D. in Management from INSEAD.
Tatu Heikkil盲 is the CEO and one of the co-founders of AI startup Cadentia and before becoming an entrepreneur was partner at Boston Consulting Group and managing director of the firm's Finnish office. He is an alumnus of the IEM program at Aalto University
Antti Vasara is managing partner at Kvanted, a VC firm focusing on industrial tech. Earlier he was President and CEO of VTT, the Finnish national research center, for ten years. He holds numerous positions of trust and has obtained a PhD in technical physics from Aalto University.
This is a great opportunity to hear about the latest insights and learn about best practices as well as share experiences with your colleagues. The event is free of charge and open for all Aalto alumni who are interested in the topic of strategy.
