Shared challenges on the table
The green transition is lagging, and moving toward a more sustainable society requires changes across multiple sectors. Although sustainability efforts are progressing, sector-specific sub-optimization slows the breakthrough of the most effective solutions.
In ¸é²¹³Ù°ì²¹¾±²õ³Ü°ù²â³ó³¾Ã¤, participants have the opportunity to define and identify the challenges themselves—challenges we will work together to solve.
Examples of identified challenges:
- Slow transfer of knowledge into practice – The latest research and innovations do not spread fast enough, and insights gained from companies do not effectively feed back into research.
- Bottlenecks in scaling and investment – Although the transition to clean energy is advancing, many solutions remain at the piloting or planning stage.
- Market and acceptance challenges – The markets and demand for green transition products are not developing quickly enough.

How does ¸é²¹³Ù°ì²¹¾±²õ³Ü°ù²â³ó³¾Ã¤ operate?
Prioritization of focus areas (June 5) – A meeting based on a preliminary survey to identify and select key thematic areas that the group will work on.
Refining the challenges (August 21) – The challenges are defined in more detail and preparations are made for the Solution Day.
Solution Day (September 30) – A full day of facilitated work at Aalto University’s Marsio Hall.
Conclusions (October 21) – Summary of the work and planning for next steps.
The process is facilitated by Demos Helsinki.
The event will be held primarily in Finnish and, if needed, in English.
The results of ¸é²¹³Ù°ì²¹¾±²õ³Ü°ù²â³ó³¾Ã¤ will be presented at the Science for Sustainability conference on October 1–2, 2025.
