Located at Aalto University’s Otaniemi campus (Otaranta 9), the floating sauna will soon be open to all, offering a unique space for social connection, cultural exchange, and relaxation. Inspired by Helsinki’s Sompasauna, it provides a place to enjoy the Finnish sauna tradition and, for the bold, an occasional dip in ice-cold water.
Cross-disciplinary collaboration was key, requiring expertise from design, business, and engineering. The project fostered community, raised awareness of sustainable construction, and highlighted the potential of repurposing wind turbine blades — a pressing global challenge.
