Communication Services aims to act as a bridge between the university and society, making the work done at Aalto visible. Through communication expertise, we can support our community in engaging in public dialogue.

We operate in a world where competition for attention and impact of communication continues to intensify. With successful communications and marketing, we ensure that Aalto's research, education, and impact activities continue to attract wide interest, in Finland and around the world.

With the help of external communications services, Aaltonias can receive support in defining their message, choosing the right channel, and reaching the desired target audience.

We provide tools for implementing external communication, guide the planning of communication, and create communications content in collaboration with the community.

How to start planning external communications 

With good planning, your message will have an impact on the target groups that are essential to your cause. This also allows you to more effectively monitor the impact of your message. 

Think about:  

  1. Target audience. Who should be informed about your matter? Is it of interest to a specific age group, professional group, societal decision-makers, or potential partners?
  2. Key message and its relevance. What makes your topic significant or timely? Is the issue a milestone of some kind or does it have societal implications? Is there a public discussion related to the topic that you want to participate in?
  3. Communication channel. Different target audiences follow different media and channels. The choice of channel is also influenced by the type of public discussion you wish to engage or activate.
