Apply funding for your diversity and inclusivity initiative

We fund innovative projects that support our goals with up to 5000 euros.

We encourage our community members to apply for funding for their EDI initiatives, as no initiative to advance equal opportunities for all is too small for this funding.

The application period is open from 1 April until 30 April.

SCI Diversity and Inclusivity Fund Application Form

Who can apply?

The students and staff of the School of Science can apply for the funding. Whether it's a small or big initiative, network meeting, seminar series, creative project, mentorship scheme, public events - be brave and apply! The most important thing is that the funded project supports equality, diversity and inclusion at Aalto.

When to apply?

  • Winter  – opens 1 November 2024, closes 29 November 2024. Awarded projects announced mid-December 2024. For projects starting by June 2025.
  • Summer – open from 1 April until 30 April. Awarded projects announced mid-May. For projects starting by December 2025.

How to apply?

  • All projects must abide by the Aalto Code of Conduct.
  • This funding is not intended to cover already existing activities.
  • The proposals will primarily be evaluated based on their EDI goals. In addition, potential impact across for instance guilds and departments can be taken into account. An impactful project can offer support for a smaller group to a greater extent, or for a larger group to a smaller extent.
  • Salaries are funded only in very exceptional cases, so please contact us (information below) before sending your proposal if this is what you need funding for.

Applications will be judged by a subcommittee of the School of Science EDI group and final decisions will be approved by the Dean. The judging subcommittee are happy to consult and assist with proposals before submitting, and potential applicants are encouraged to talk with us before making a proposal. Please inform also your finance contact already when preparing the proposal.

The School of Science Communications team will assist in promoting the project, but the main responsibility for promotion remains with the project teams.
