Course exams
Course registration automatically acts as registration for the course exam held at the end of the course. Therefore, you don't need to register separately for the course-ending exam (course exam, code: KT) once you've registered for the course itself. There are some exceptions to registrations for Computer Science exams, which are announced on the course鈥檚 MyCourses page.
Other exams
For all other exams (e.g. retake exams, book exams), you must register separately in Sisu. Registration starts two months before the exam date and ends 7 days before the exam date. Sisu confirms the registration automatically when the registration has closed.
If the course can be completed 100% by an exam and you want to complete the course by taking only the exam, make sure you have either registered for the course (for course exam KT) or for the other exam. Always make sure that your registration has been successfully completed. You can check this in Sisu under My Information > Registrations.
For some courses, the teacher may use the EXAM room for the exam. The teacher will provide instructions on how to take the exam and how to reserve a time. You can read more about EXAM here.
- Mute your phones.
- Leave material that is not needed in the exam: jackets, bags, mobile phones, smartwatches, smartglasses or other electronic devices on the sides of the hall.
- You may have your writing equipment and ID during the exam. Other allowed equipment will be listed in the hall allocation list.
- If a calculator is allowed, remember to bring your own; spare calculators are not available during the exam. Lobby services may have spare calculators that students may borrow before the exam. Please ensure that any calculator you are allowed to use complies with the exam instructions; if the instructions state a scientific calculator, you may not bring a graphing calculator to the exam.
- Write clearly on every answer sheet the exam date and hall, course code and name, and your study number, name, study programme, and signature. If the exam covers multiple course codes, indicate on the answer sheet the course code for the exam you registered for.
- You may start the exam when the invigilator gives permission.
- The exam timetable is written on the board.
- Keep your student card or identity certificate visible during the exam.
- Raise your hand to get the supervisor鈥檚 attention if you need more paper, want to go to the toilet, or have questions.
- Keep your gaze fixed on your own paper to avoid misunderstandings. The invigilator has the right to remove a person from the exam if they suspect cheating. Any consequences will be decided separately.
- Please make sure you have only the allowed materials during the exam.
OOS (Section 40): A study attainment may be left ungraded, if the student is deemed to have violated the Code of Academic Integrity while completing it. Students violating the Code of Academic Integrity may be subject to disciplinary action on the grounds set forth in the Universities Act.
Submitting your answers
- When leaving the exam, you must prove your identity (e.g. student card, an official ID certificate or a Finnish or EU driving license with photo ID) and return all concept papers (answers, drafts and empties).
- Draft papers are marked with the word 鈥滵RAFT鈥 in capital letters and by drawing a large cross over all pages that have writing on them. Draft papers are not graded.
- Sign your name in the participant list.
Course grades are published no later than four weeks after the exam. Grades are registered in the Sisu study register. Students have the right to review their responses and receive feedback after the exam. Responses are kept for at least 6 months from the publication of results.
