Aalto University has launched this year’s round of a collaborative foresight process with a foresight survey to provide important inputs to the university’s strategy work. The survey explores how our community experiences recent developments in the world and perceives the future. This communal foresight process is an integral part of Aalto University’s living strategy allowing us to react to the changes in our operating environment.

Answer the survey

You can share for example observation, phenomenon or event that has surprised you or made you excited in recent weeks. We are also interested in hearing about trends or developments that could have a meaningful impact on a field you are active in.

More information about living strategy and the foresight survey

Aalto University’s living strategy approach puts strong emphasis on collaborative strategy work. The foresight process (also known as University Preview) is a communal effort that engages various members of the Aalto University community in identifying and analysing emerging signals and trends. The process is conducted in fall semester and participates teaching and research staff, students, doctoral students, post-docs, designers and artists, administrative staff, service personnel and other Aalto staff, alumni, partners and stakeholders. The University Preview process also involves foresight surveys, workshops and meetings in which emerging signals and trends are gathered and interpreted and their meaning for Aalto analysed.

The University Preview serves three main objectives:

  1. identify emerging trends and developments that are relevant for Aalto’s operating environment
  2. analyse the meaning of these trends and developments to identify any need to modify Aalto’s activities
  3. engage Aalto University’s community and key partners in the development of the living strategy.

Foresight process from the previous year

During fall 2020, the foresight process led to the identification of three key emerging trends related ɫɫÀ²â€™s operating environment. These were leading the sustainable way, opportunities of the future, and hybrid ways of working.
