TexirC Project Meeting at Mirka
The Mirka Karis factory recently hosted a key meeting for the TexirC project (/en/texirc), which is tackling four major challenges in textile recycling: colour stripping, fibre separation, compositional analysis, and the de/repolymerization of synthetic fibres. In addition to its technical goals, TexirC aims to build expertise that supports the early adoption of its results, helping Finnish companies transition towards a more sustainable textile economy.
The day began with a warm welcome from the Mirka Karis team, including an introduction to the company and a presentation of its sustainability vision. Guests were then taken on a guided tour of the factory, offering a first-hand look at the operations and innovations behind Mirka鈥檚 production processes.
A networking lunch provided participants with the chance to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations.
In the afternoon, the agenda focused on the TexirC project鈥檚 progress. A results meeting reviewed recent achievements and ongoing developments, followed by a steering group session. Discussions covered the realization of project goals, budget allocations, and the efficient use of resources as the initiative moves forward.
The meeting successfully reinforced collaboration between project partners and strengthened momentum towards a more circular, sustainable future for textiles.
