Six Aalto University alumni awarded Finnish State Awards for Arts

On 27 November 2018 the Arts Promotion Centre Finland bestowed 16 artists with the Finnish State Awards for Arts. Six are alumni of Aalto University.

On 27 November 2018, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland bestowed State Awards for Arts on 16 artists, six of whom are alumni of Aalto University.

  • State Award for Architecture: Trevor Harris and Hennu Kjisik
  • State Award for Film: Zaida Bergroth
  • State Award for Visual Art: Sasha Huber
  • State Award for Cartoons: Kati Rapia
  • State Award for Photography: Susanna Majuri

The Minister of European Affairs, Culture and Sport, Sampo Terho, awarded the prizes at the 50th Anniversary of Arts Councils in Taike-Gaala, Helsinki. "Art renews society, and creates experiences and economic growth," Terho said. "State awards are one way to respect the creativity that artists produce."
