Research assistant / Master’s thesis worker in Cloud-based Radio Access Networks (C-RAN)

We are looking for Masters’ thesis worker to participate in the software architecture development and protocol implementation work in 4G and 5G.

The department of Communications and Networking has a research team focusing on software defined radio implementation and cloudification of 4G (LTE) and 5G radio systems. The team is led by Professors Riku Jäntti and Olav Tirkkonen and coordinated by Dr Kalle Ruttik. The developed system allows running of the base band processing in a standard Linux environment which is then connected to the remote radio heads using Ethernet fronthaul. 

We are looking for Masters’ thesis worker to participate in the software architecture development and protocol implementation work. Successful candidate should have good C-programming skills and solid understanding of signals and systems / basics of signal processing. Knowing C++ and familiarity with LTE specifications is an advantage.
