Presentation of professor: Päivi Törmä

At the moment, her work consists of research, administrative work, and supervising master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.

One of her main research topics is the study of ultracold fermionic atoms. Together with her research group they have done research on quantum phenomena that cause superconductivity, which means electrical conductivity with no resistance. Recently, they discovered a new connection between superconductivity and topology, which helps to understand how superconductivity could also be possible in higher temperatures.
