Espoo day was a city wide celebration featuring 125 free events around Espoo on Saturday 29 August. Also Aalto Built Environment Laboratory (ABE) opened its doors for visitors at Urban Mill.

On Espoo day, ABE was offering a chance to try out the developed by Petri Kangassalo. Plan-P is an application illustrating the impacts of new construction by allowing a user to build blocks of housing into a 3D model of the city. The purpose of Plan-P is to make urban planning more comprehensible to non-professionals and stimulate discussion.

During Espoo day, the focus was on the Otaniemi area illustrating the building targets of the Espoo city planning board for new housing. During the day, many interested city dwellers tried out the application and the ABE team got valuable feedback for its further development.

is a new collaborative research and learning initiative of Aalto University School of Engineering focusing on the questions of the built environment.
