Pierangelo Metrangolo appointed as visiting professor to CoE HYBER

CoE HYBER is strengthen by professor Metrangolo and his expertise in self-assembly properties of halocarbons and their interactions with biomolecules.

The Academy of Finland's research 2014-2019 (HYBER) welcomes Pierangelo to join the centre as visiting professor.

Metrangolo is full professor at the Department of Chemistry, Materials, and Chemical Engineering 鈥淕iulio Natta鈥, Politecnico di Milano since 2011.

His research interests include crystal engineering, fluorine chemistry, supramolecular, and biomimetic materials. In particular the Nanostructured Fluorinated Materials group focuses on the study of the self-assembly properties of halocarbons and their interactions with biomolecules for applications in the fields of functional materials and nanomedicine.

He is the holder of an European Research Council (ERC-StG2012) grant to carry with the project 鈥淔OLDHALO 鈥 Folding with Halogen Bonding鈥, aimed at investigating the relevance of halogen bonding in biological systems. Aalto University, the Department of Applied Physics act as an other benficiary of the FOLDHALO ERC-StG2012 grant.
