The Nokia Bell Labs donation funds the Aalto University scholarship programme. The application for the scholarships closed at the end of September and the scholarship recipients have now been selected by both schools. The scholarship recipients have been selected on the basis of academic merit through a competitive application process.

Nokia Bell Labs has donated eight 2000 euro scholarships for women who have done well in their studies at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering and the School of Science. Awarded women are:

‘Aalto University's core values are equality, diversity and inclusiveness, which support the well-being of our community, creativity and the ability to promote world-class research, teaching and impact. The donation was directed to support the studies of female doctoral students, who are clearly under-represented in the technical field’, Jussi Ryynänen, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Aalto University says.

‘As Nokia’s award-winning industrial research lab, we recognize the responsibility we have in supporting and collaborating with diverse and talented people who will become the next wave of inventors and creators.  Nokia Bell Labs is thrilled to have this partnership with Aalto University to encourage a diverse set of perspectives and ideas that address the various challenges we face to transform how we live, work and communicate’, said Dr. Thierry E Klein, President, Bell Labs Solutions Research at Nokia.

Congratulations to all the scholarship winners!
