Nokia donates 200 000 euros ɫɫÀ² University
Nokia is donating 200 000 euros to technology at Aalto University. The company wants to contribute to promoting research at Finnish universities, enhancing cooperation between companies and universities, and strengthening Finland's international competitiveness.
– Nokia is an important partner for Aalto University and we have collaborated for decades. I am pleased that our close collaboration continues, especially in the fields of ICT and digitalisation, both having a significant role in building the future of Finland. I would like to express our warm thanks to Nokia, our long-time collaboration partner, says President Tuula Teeri.
In cooperation with the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, Nokia is also founding The Nokia Center for Advanced Research (NCAR) research unit and donating 150 000 euros for its operation. In addition, Nokia will donate funds for individual scientific projects at the universities, including the spring 2016 launch of the Aalto-1 satellite built by Aalto students.
All in all, Nokia is donating more than two million euros to support Finnish universities. Along with Aalto University, donations will go to the University of Helsinki, the University of Oulu and Tampere University of Technology.
