New School of Science legal counsel Anniina Harju provides legal assistance related to contracts and research projects
Anniina Harju provides legal assistance related to contracts and research projects conducted at departments of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science ja Industrial Engineering and Management. In addition, Harju provides legal advisory for Aalto University Research Ethics Committee, which is responsible for the preliminary ethical evaluation of the university's non-medical research projects in human sciences.
Before joining Aalto, Harju worked for consulting and auditing company KPMG, where she assisted clients especially in legal matters related to intellectual property rights, contracts and litigation. Her expertise covers legal issues related to technology, software development and medical industry. She has prior experience of advisory in research, development and innovation projects and has assisted clients in both criminal and civil court proceedings.
Harju acted as an author and executor for background study for Finnish national IPR strategy report provided for Prime minister’s Office (Publications of the Government´s analysis, assessment and research activities 2021:13). Besides her LL.M degree from University of Helsinki, she has studied law at the University of Sheffield (UK).
Harju used to compete in athletics and cross-country skiing and she still likes to use her free time by doing sports. As her current hobbies she lists gym, tennis and various endurance sports.
