Aaltogether Ateliers is a co-creative studio that continues to build on the experiences and learnings of experimenting with embodied practices. This spring, three meetups will further explore the use of social arts and embodied practices as research approaches and means to enhance well-being, interaction, social sustainability and radical creativity.

Social arts and embodied practices are important because they improve interaction and social skills, which have a positive impact on everything we do together. They also support the development of teacher competence and well-being at work and study.

The aim of these gatherings, called ateliers, is to co-create new possibilities to kind and respectful interactions in everyday encounters that foster a sense of belonging and lay the foundations for well-being and radical creativity.

We are particularly interested in developing togetherness and the direct experience of being and co-creating together. We ask, how they relate to agencies in society and groups.

The initiative is related to the research of Ricardo Dutra (Education in Question—E? research group, School of Arts, Design and Architecture) and Kirsi Hakio ( research team, School of Engineering)  and builds on the Capacity Building of Creative Radicals experiment.

Aalto faculty, staff and students are all welcome to experiment and co-create – register for the ateliers:

28 March at 13-15

22 April at 13-15

26 May at 10-12

All meetups will take place in Ateljee 2D A 304-A307, Undergraduate Centre, Otakaari 1, Otaniemi campus. We follow the Aalto safe space principles and respect each person's body and will.

The Aaltogether Ateliers are a welcoming and open co-creative (studio) space for testing awareness-based embodied practices and broader social art forms, i.e. social art-based methods that support attentiveness to the body and its experiences as a way of knowing and embrace learning as a holistic and felt act. We invite interdisciplinary researchers, artists, designers, architects, educators, engineers, economists, activists and learners from all fields to experiment, develop and test out ideas together. The aim of the gatherings is to co-create new possibilities for kind and respectful interactions in everyday encounters that foster a sense of belonging and lay the foundations for well-being and radical creativity.

A new study from researchers at Aalto University suggests that our picture of herd immunity may be incomplete — and that understanding how people are connected could be just as important as knowing how many are immune.
