This spring’s creative industry pre-incubator program launched with the onboarding of fourteen new teams. Their business concepts encompass diverse sectors of the creative industry, including fashion, extended reality, design, architecture, gaming, digital art, and film.

Since the start of the pre-incubator program in early 2022, there is a growing number of new teams that are creating solutions focused on developing software, applications, and digital platforms catering to the needs of the creative industries.

Over the course of the next 13 weeks, the teams will begin developing their ideas through weekly workshops. In these sessions, they will acquire essential skills required to transform their early-stage ideas into viable business models. To cater to the varying levels of readiness and the diversity of ideas, the teams will receive personalised coaching through one-to-one meetings with business advisors.

One of the key skills the teams will develop in the program is the art of pitching, which is crucial for attracting potential investors when the business reaches the stage of seeking funding. In May, the pre-incubator teams will take the stage in Musiikkitalo at the Creative Demo Day event to deliver their pitches.

The pre-incubator program is held twice a year, and the next call for applications opens in early August 2023. The Aalto Digital Creatives program produces a variety of events during the spring semester to enable opportunities for networking. The program is a part of the wider Campus Incubators network supported by the City of Helsinki. In Aalto University, the program is coordinated by Aalto Startup Center and Aalto Studios.
