’It's great that a company that represents a new field in our programme and has a strong international brand is joining our partner network’, says Anne Salonvaara from the School of Business Corporate Relations.

’Although our students are already familiar with the Finnair brand, we believe that the close and comprehensive collaboration resulting from the partnership will give students a better understanding of the opportunities Finnair can offer them.’

The collaboration has already been launched in several areas. Finnair will, for instance, be used as the case company on a case study course for new bachelor's degree students. The students participating in the course activities will be able to tap the competence of Finnair staff working for different business units and seek solutions to specific company challenges.

Finnair will also provide a business-related challenge for the Capstone course targeted at the students of four different master's programmes (Management & International Business, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Communication). The participants on this course will be students in the final stage of their studies who will work towards finding a solution to the provided challenge in collaboration with Finnair. There are also plans for a separate, tailored business project to be carried out by students of Aalto University. Another area of the partnership will include naming one of the Töölö campus lecture halls after Finnair and decorating it accordingly this autumn.

’Finnair is constantly on the look for business-oriented professionals with a higher education degree. Many people are familiar with our consumer brand, but perhaps not with the appealing challenges and versatility working for us can offer’, says Juho Toivola from Finnair. He is responsible for matters related to Finnair's employer brand.

’We are interested in various forms of collaboration that will familiarise students with Finnair as a company. The partnership programme provides us with an excellent framework for this. One of our specific objectives is to make the Helsinki Airport area known as an international and rapidly growing employment hub in collaboration with the other employers in the area.’

Through the partnership programme, companies get the chance to engage in long-term collaboration with the School of Business in many different areas. Possible forms of collaboration include developing the company employer brand, contributing to teaching, carrying out research cooperation, for instance in connection with student projects, and acting as a visiting lecturer. A total of 14 companies are currently involved in the programme.
