Awarding decorations on the Independence Day for merits benefiting the country is an important national tradition in Finland. The above-mentioned decorations have been granted based on the proposal by the university.
In addition to these, Teuvo Kohonen, Professor Emeritus and Academician, receives the Commander First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland.

In 2025, there were altogether 71 doctoral and 607 master's degrees in the School of Science. In March, seven outstanding doctoral and six master's theses were awarded.
