Connecting the creative community – Aalto ARTS launches newsletter and LinkedIn page

The School of Arts, Design and Architecture has launched a new Friends of Aalto ARTS newsletter and opened its own LinkedIn page. The aim of both is to strengthen the school's network of alums and friends and to offer new ways to follow and participate in current topics in the creative fields.

Aalto ARTS alums and friends have received their first bite of the school's new Friends of Aalto ARTS newsletter. The newsletter provides current news from our fields, event tips, and perspectives and inspiration for thinking and learning.

The newsletter is in English so that it can reach a wide and international group of active experts in our fields. The newsletter is sent out a few times a year and is aimed at both alums of Aalto ARTS and anyone interested in the fields of arts, design, and architecture.

"I firmly believe that design, creative practices and art bring added value to our society. Their methods can be used to smash silos, address the most complex challenges of our time, and create economic value—and much more", says Dean Tuomas Auvinen in the opening newsletter.

Auvinen invites Aalto ARTS alums, friends, and partners to join in harnessing the power of creativity for the good of society.

LinkedIn page offers a new forum for discussion

Aalto ARTS has also launched its own LinkedIn page, which serves as a forum for topical discussions in the creative fields. The page shares content from the school's experts and partners, and community members are encouraged to participate in the discussion and share their own views. Discussions on the page are in Finnish or English, depending on the topic.

The aim is to build and strengthen the Aalto ARTS community and make its voice heard in the society. The school’s communications team is responsible for updating and moderating the page, and you can contact them about ideas for posts. The account shares about one or two posts per week.

Strengthening the community

Both the newsletter and LinkedIn page are part of Aalto ARTS's aims to strengthen the community and maintain contact between alums, students, and partners.

According to an alum survey conducted by Aalto University in spring 2025, nearly 40 percent of respondents feel they belong to the community of their own school or field of study, and they are primarily interested in interacting and networking with other alums.

ARTS alums seem to be interested in activities that allow them to give back to the community, develop professionally, and work with current students and younger alumni.

In the survey, alums in the arts, design, and architecture expressed interest in creative events, workshops, art exhibitions, and programs that support career development.

You are warmly welcome to join the events and discussions – and the Aalto ARTS community!
