Professor Antti Oulasvirta, who works on the development of information technology with regard to usability and user experience, was number 92 in the AMiner website rankings of the most influential researchers in the field of Human-Computer Interaction. Professor Oulasvirta’s work combines information processing science, cognitive science and mathematical psychology, and the European Research Council has awarded him the much sought-after ERC Starting Grant for a research project which uses algorithms to improve user interfaces.

AMiner is a free online service for academic social network analysis and mining. Its Most Influential Scholar Annual List is based on citations in certain highly regarded publications which are automatically examined and analysed using algorithms.

In addition to Professor Oulasvirta, the current President of the Academy of Finland, Professor Heikki Mannila is another Aalto faculty member who has also joined the group of most cited academics; he was placed 21 in the field of data mining.
