About 20 Aalto alumni, out of which roughly two thirds represented the field of business and the rest the field of technology, gathered in the Nordea head office in Stockholm on March 29.  The event was held in the 鈥淪along鈥 with a magnificent view over the city.

School of Business alumnus Casper von Koskull, President and Group CEO of Nordea, opened the event with a thought-provoking presentation on his views on the 鈥済eo-political recession鈥 and other transformational global trends. He also shared his thoughts on what should be done in the banking sector and beyond to embrace digitalization, including collaboration and competition with start-ups.

The Dean of the School of Business, Professor Ingmar Bj枚rkman presented the latest news of Aalto University and the School of Business. The alumni were surprised and happy to hear of the many positive developments that have taken place recently. Dean Bj枚rkman also painted a picture of the whole start-up ecosystem that has developed in and around Aalto.

Director of Community at Startup Sauna and Aalto entrepreneurship student Kasper Suomalainen concluded the presentations by sharing his inspiring story on Aalto Entrepreneurship Society, startuplifers, Startup Sauna and Slush. The alumni commended him for the important work he and others in the Aalto start-up community have done to encourage students to become entrepreneurs.

All of the presentations stimulated a lively discussion, which continued after the 鈥渙fficial鈥 programme of the evening.

The Stockholm event followed the Dean's similar gatherings in New York, the Stanford University campus, and the City of London.

The purpose of these events is to create an Aalto alumni community also outside of Finland, which will hopefully help in building a culture of giving back to the university in different ways going forward.

There are already over 40 000 alumni from over 80 countries in the Aalto University alumni network. You can join the network free of charge at
