Risto Ilmoniemi elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Professor Risto Ilmoniemi to its College of Fellows. Ilmoniemi was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the AIMBE College of Fellows for innovative contributions to transcranial magnetic stimulation and electromagnetic brain imaging technology, and to brain signal analysis.

Over 鈧2 million awarded to the University of Helsinki and Aalto University for research identifying mechanisms of depression

A new collaborative project in neuroscience, which is being carried out by the University of Helsinki and Aalto University and which originates in the Multi-Channel Psych programme of the Wellcome Leap organisation, has received a grant of over 鈧2 million for a period of three years.

In the future, artificial intelligence-enabled 鈥渟elf-driving鈥 brain stimulators can ameliorate the condition of millions of patients suffering from brain disorders, says Professor of Applied Physics Risto Ilmoniemi. He also thinks that his best research results may still be in the future.

Three brain research projects receive Academy of Finland funding
