Shaping Tomorrow with Smart and Living Materials

Welcome to explore future materials inspired by nature through hands-on experience with the researchers demonstrating their materials.
Shaping Tomorrow with Smart and Living Materials

Throughout history, materials have shaped human progress. As we transition into the era of smart, living materials, we are at a change that could redefine construction practices, healthcare tools, and daily life.

Nature has mastered the art of adaptability, producing materials that can dynamically respond to their environment, adjust as needed, and even exhibit self-healing properties. Inspired by nature´s creations, the is pioneering the development of innovative materials that promise to revolutionize industries and improve quality of life. Join us to uncover how research endeavors aim to understand natural behaviors and apply them to future technologies.

Explore the future of materials inspired by natureand dive into the exciting world of life-inspired materials at our upcoming event, part of the "Designs for a Cooler Planet" series.

Event Highlights:

14:00- 15:00 Short Talks by Leading Researchers: Join researchers from LIBER as they share insights into their work on life-inspired materials.

15:00-17:00 Interactive Workshop: Get hands-on experience with life-inspired materials in our interactive workshop and learn how these materials could transform everyday applications—from healthcare to construction.

Coffee/tea and snacks will be served outside the lecture hall in the lobby.

Scientific study setup: Petri dishes with samples, shells.

A unique protein-based adhesive that works even underwater

Designs for a Cooler Planet 2025: Inspired by mussels and barnacles, this adhesive challenges toxic, petroleum-based alternatives—and thanks to its biocompatibility, it could have medical applications too.
