Halvvägs / Halfway by Vala Boucht

38x38cm
wool, mohair & synthetic blend yarns

Inspired by my grandmother's nonchalant ascend only halfway up the Kilimanjaro mountain, I feel empowered by our shared attitude toward experiences beyond the treeline. Climbing a mountain or a fell isn’t all about reaching the summit, but the embodied experience of nature, magically engaging all of our senses. This small-scale rya rug represents contrasts between fading memories of a brain corrupted by Alzheimer’s and a young mind carrying vivid memories.
