Cooperation with Finnish universities and research institutes

Strategic cooperation between Aalto University and other universities and research institutes in the metropolitan area has a long tradition. In addition to the University of Helsinki, Svenska Handelshögskolan, the University of the Arts and the National Defence University, Aalto University also has strong university cooperation within the FITech network university. In addition to the University's strategic partner, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the University also works closely with the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), the National Land Survey of Finland, CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd and the Natural Resources Institute Finland. Extensive and knowledge-generating cooperation has also long been established with the HUS Group, in particular the Helsinki University Central Hospital.
Long-term cooperation offers the potential for scientific breakthroughs and new innovations. In addition to research and teaching cooperation, there is also cooperation in the maintenance of research infrastructures and services to the university community.
Other regional and city cooperation
Aalto University engages in cooperation with many regional entities, including several regional councils. The University is represented in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council cooperation group and it is also a partner in the Council's EU office, which represents the region's interests and disseminates regional information. Other cooperative partners include the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Centre for Economic Development, Transport, and the Environment (ELY Centre).
Continuous cooperation also takes place with the Regional Council of Häme, especially in innovation activities. The presidents of university-level institutions in the Helsinki region and municipal leaders have been holding joint meetings since 2007. In the shared vision, the Helsinki Metropolitan Area is being developed as a unified whole with an environment that is close to nature, and where it is good to live, learn, work, and engage in business.
