Netta Böök (Architect SAFA, Doctor of Science in Architecture) has a particular interest in the history of Finnish architecture and sustainable traditional building methods. In recent years, she has focused especially on the Finnish-era architecture of ceded Karelia and its post-war developments. At Aalto University, Böök has taught courses on the history of architecture since 2002, dating back to the era of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK). 

In the Building Extinction project, Böök examines, through concrete cases, the ways buildings and their components have been recycled and reused across different periods. Through newspaper articles, she studies the discussion surrounding building demolition and the recycling of building materials in different eras.
