Kati Toivanen, PhD, is a grant-funded researcher from the University of Helsinki. Kati's doctoral research, "Dirty work and green entrepreneurship. Scrap business and waste material recycling in 20th-century Finland," examines the history of the recycling business – particularly scrap dealers – and material recycling in 20th-century Finland. Kati has also written several short commissioned histories of organizations and companies involved in the recycling of recovered raw materials. She has appeared on the podcast and Lotta Vuorio's podcast to discuss the history of recycling.
