Trained as a biologist and a self-taught scientific illustrator, Guido holds a PhD in Philosophy from Ruhr University Bochum. He currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Philosophy and the Center for Science Studies at Bielefeld University in Germany.
His philosophical research has focused on clarifying the concepts of the organism and the biological individual, and their role in evolutionary theory, particularly in relation to themes such as organismic agency and niche construction theory. He has also studied the representative roles of model organisms in biology and the biomedical sciences. In addition, he works on the visual representation of biology and the philosophy of visual thinking, and examines the role of aesthetics in the formation of metatheoretical frameworks that cross disciplinary boundaries.
As part of the project, Guido studies the use of biological metaphors and analogical reasoning in architecture and urban planning.
