English-taught bachelor's programmes - I am applying with an EB Diploma
If you apply on the basis of your European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma, you apply to the English-taught bachelor’s programmes at Aalto University in the admission round B. Fill in the application form for admission round B during the admission period 7 to 22 January 2027.
Please note that any European high school diploma does not qualify for the . The European Baccalaureate is a special programme and only students who have studied at a school that participates in the European Baccalaureate programmes can be awarded an EB diploma. The EB diploma can only be completed in specific European Schools, or in .

Application process step by step

- Check the application deadlines and required documents.
- Prepare the required documents.
- Fill in the application form for admission round B during the application period and provide the required documents by the given deadlines. Pay the if required.
- Wait for the admission decision.
- Accept the admission offer if you are offered a study place.
- If you applied with an incomplete EB diploma (with your preliminary marks), provide the final diploma by the given deadline.
What documents must I submit?
If you have already graduated or will graduate before applying
If you have completed your EB diploma before spring 2027, attach a copy of your diploma to your application form by 29 January 2027 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+2). Attach all pages of the diploma.
If you are graduating in spring 2027
If you are completing your EB diploma in spring 2027, attach your preliminary marks report to your application form by 1 April 2027 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+3) and a copy of your final diploma by 13 July 2026 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+3).
If you are accepted based on EB preliminary marks, the admission is conditional until you submit an official certificate of the final grades É«É«À² University Admission Services. If the points calculated based on the final grades are lower than the points calculated based on the preliminary marks the admission offer may be revoked. If the final score is higher than the preliminary marks, you may be admitted to a study option for which the preliminary marks had been insufficient.
Attach a copy of your valid passport or some other government-issued identity card (with photo) including information on your citizenship to your application form by 29 January 2027 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+2).
Please note that if you have Finnish citizenship, you do not have to submit a copy of your passport or identity card.
If your official identification card is issued in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish, you must also submit a translation. You can translate the document yourself, but it must be accurate.
If your name has changed after your studies and your name in the passport does not match one or several documents, an official proof of name change is required. Submit a copy of an official document of your name change issued by a governing body. This can be, for example, a marriage certificate if your family name has changed in marriage.
If you are exempted from the tuition fee based on your residence permit, attach copies of both the front and back sides of your residence permit card in Finland to your application form by 29 January 2027 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+2). The residence permit that exempts you from tuition fees must be valid at the beginning of the academic year (1 August 2027). If your residence permit expires before August, you are considered liable to tuition fees at the time of applying. In case you receive a document that exempts you from tuition fees after the application period, you must submit a copy of the document to the university as soon as possible.
A residence permit card alone is not a valid proof of identity. In addition, you must submit a copy of your valid passport or other official ID card that indicates your citizenship.
The Bachelor’s Programme in Technology, Business and Design requires an additional document: a preliminary assignment. Further information is available in the programme-specific section below.
For the Finance and International Business programmes you may also submit optional SAT or ACT test results. These test results are not mandatory. Further information is available in the programme sections below.
What EB subjects do I need to be admitted?
In the certificate-based admission, your certificate grades are scored according to the (available on the site yliopistovalinnat.fi).
The admission is competitive. The applicants are ranked on the basis of their total scores yielded by the certificate grades, and admitted to the programmes accordingly.
When calculating your points, the combination of subjects for which you score the highest points is used. There is no specific required minimum score, but certain threshold criteria must be met.

The admission is based on certificate grades. Your EB diploma grades are scored according to the .
Subjects scored for all applicants:
- Language 1 (L1 or L1-advanced)
- Mathematics (advanced or basic syllabus)
- Three additional subjects yielding the best scores. These may be any subjects listed in the scoring table.
Threshold criteria: Advanced syllabus in mathematics with at least grade 5,00 (grade 4,00 for diplomas completed before 2021) or basic syllabus in mathematics with at least grade 6,00.
Language requirements:
All students are expected to have sufficient language skills to be able to study in English. You are not required to submit a language test result.
Admission based on contest performance
It is also possible to apply to the Economics programme on the basis of performance in the following contests in Finland: Talousguru competition, Finnish National High School Mathematics Competition or Datatähti contest. The application period is in March 2027. Read more at Studyinfo.

Subjects scored for all applicants:
- Language 1 (L1 or L1-advanced)
- Mathematics (advanced or basic syllabus)
- Three additional subjects yielding the best scores. These may be any subjects listed in the scoring table.
Threshold criteria: Advanced syllabus in mathematics with at least grade 5,00 (grade 4,00 for diplomas completed before 2021) or basic syllabus in mathematics with at least grade 6,00.
Language requirements:
All students are expected to have sufficient language skills to be able to study in English. You are not required to submit a language test result.
Optional – SAT or ACT based admission:
To this study option, you may be admitted on the basis of an SAT or ACT test result.
The admission is competitive. The applicants are ranked on the basis of their total SAT/ACT scores, and admitted to the study option accordingly.
You must take
- the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Mathematics sections in the SAT test or
- the Reading, English and Mathematics sections in the ACT test.
Minimum score requirement: SAT total score at least 1200 or ACT composite score at least 25.
Tie break rule: In the case of a tied score, the applicant with the higher section score from the test section Mathematics will be admitted. If you have several valid test scores that have been delivered by the given deadline, the highest Mathematics section score will be considered.
Only the SAT and ACT tests completed 1 January 2025 or later will be considered in the 2027 admissions. The deadline for the SAT or ACT results to arrive directly from the test organiser to Aalto University is 29 January 2027. Test results delivered after the deadline are not accepted. Kindly note that you do not need to submit an SAT/ACT test result in addition to EB documents in order to be considered in the certificate-based admission. If you submit a valid SAT/ACT test result in addition to your EB documents, you will automatically be considered for admission on the basis of both your EB grades and your SAT or ACT test result.
