Electricity is needed everywhere – from nanotechnology to mega-infrastructures. Development of the field therefore affects us all.
Care robots, speech recognition, micromaterials, galaxies near and far away – the School of Electrical Engineering is so much more than electricity and smart power grids, as we study many topics you might not initially associate with the electrical industry. We take part in solving the great challenges humanity is facing, such as climate change, the depletion of natural resources and an aging population.

New department heads and deputies appointed at the School of Electrical Engineering
Tomi Laurila will take over as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, while Tuomas Savolainen will taker over as Director of the Metsähovi Radio Observatory. Ville Viikari and Tapio Lokki will remain in their current roles.
