LeGroup Prototypes
We love designing prototypes as part of our research work. Our working method revolves around creating continuously evolving prototypes, which can be prototypes of practices, services, software, hardware or media.

CEST - Research: Theory and method development
CEST is developing computational electronic structure theory and machine learning methods to solve pertinent problems in physics, chemistry and materials science. Our method development facilitates a better description of matter and unlocks new applications. New systems pose new challenges, which again require new method development.
CEST - Research overview
CEST's research topics can be classified into three interacting branches: theory and method development, materials modeling, and machine learning materials science.

Fabian and Jaakko Ahvenainen Fund
The Fabian and Jaakko Ahvenainen Fund awards grants and recognition awards annually to Master's degree students and post-graduate students of the Aalto University School of Engineering as well as persons who recently completed their Master's or postgraduate degrees and familiarized with bridge engineering or structural engineering and building physics in their studies at Aalto University.

For radio amateurs
Aalto Satellites works closely with local radio amateurs and wants to open up new space-hobby possibilities for all the radio amateurs around the world.

Motivation & Assessment
Assessment criteria as well as how feedback will be given and by whom needs to be transparent.

Studies and programmes
The Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture is a Nordic leader in higher education for design, fashion, games, media, architecture, film, art education and art. We produce world-class research in art education, design and design thinking, digital media and visual culture, urban planning and architecture.

Time & Space
Time and space refer to the dates, times during the day, and the physical/online space where teaching and learning happen. They need to be clear and utilitarian in the context of the course content.

Methods & Tools
The methods and tools should promote challenge-based learning and should be both transparent and accessible to students.

People & Community
Various organizations, communities, and people are likely to be involved, so knowing who they are and what roles they play is substantial.

Content & Competencies
The teaching content should include real-life challenges, multidisciplinary approaches, and broad comprehension over what student needs are.

Our history
In many ways, the story of our school is the story of the Finnish creative industries: design, arts, architecture, film and new media.

Key figures for 2023
Our strength is in our students and faculty and the creative work they do. Our aim is to enable our students to develop their creativity and apply it in novel ways for the betterment of society.

Rankings and reputation
As one of the leading international universities in our fields, Aalto's teaching, research and impact are well respected and we are often ranked among the best in the world.
