Call texts for Research Council of Finland’s spring 2025 call out now

The Research Council of Finland (RCF) has published several spring calls that close either on May 7 or May 14, 2025. Many of the calls have specific restrictions, so please read the call texts carefully. Funding calls are open for research into Finnish forest biomass, research into sustainable energy solutions of the future, clinical research, local research infrastructures to strengthen regional R&D activities, international collaboration in high-performance computing, Proof of Concept funding, and strengthening R&D activities and collaboration in well-being counties.

Researchers create gel that can self-heal like human skin

Until now, artificial gels have either managed to replicate this high stiffness or natural skin’s self-healing properties, but not both. Now, a team of researchers from Aalto University and the University of Bayreuth are the first to develop a hydrogel with a unique structure that overcomes earlier limitations, opening the door to applications such as drug delivery, wound healing, soft robotics sensors and artificial skin.
